We have been building manufacturing training since 1999. The controls have changed, the software has changed, and the simulator has gone from a lab machine to a browser tab. How people learn a trade has not.
Built by people who have run the machines
Every course is written by subject matter experts who have done the work — not by instructional designers interpreting a manual. It is the difference between content that describes a process and content that anticipates where a student will get it wrong.
It is also why the projects behave like shop work rather than coursework, and why the material holds up in front of an instructor who has spent thirty years on the floor. That instructor is the hardest audience we have, and the only one whose approval matters.
Project-based, because that is how the trade is learned
Nobody has ever learned to machine by watching a slideshow. Students work through real parts from the print to the finished, measured component — reading the drawing, writing the program, choosing tooling and work holding, setting the machine, running it, and inspecting what comes off.
Getting it wrong is part of it. A scrapped part in a simulator costs seconds and teaches more than a correct answer on a quiz.
It leads to a certification that means something
Content is aligned to the skill standards the industry already works to. Assessment runs throughout rather than only at the end, and every student finishes with a Skills Learning Objective report showing precisely what they can do — something an employer can read and trust.
For the shops that do most of the work
Not the household names. The companies under a thousand people, and the machine shops that, taken together, employ more machinists than anyone else. They are the backbone of American manufacturing and they are where most of your graduates will spend their careers.
Those shops rarely have a training department. They hire on evidence, they need people who are useful in the first month rather than the first year, and they run whatever machines they have — which is why we teach both older and current controls rather than only the new one.
